HINDI man suntok ang puhunan, may panibagong titulo ngayon si Manny Pacquiao!
Ang boxing legend at dating senador ay ginawaran ng Philippine Normal University (PNU) ng Doctor in Physical Education and Sports, Honoris Causa, bilang pagkilala sa kanyang mga naging ambag sa Philippine sports at sa inspirasyong naibigay niya sa maraming Pilipino.
Isinagawa ang seremonya noong Miyerkules, September 16, bilang bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng ika-125 anibersaryo ng PNU.
Dahil sa bahagyang pag-ulan, inilipat ang seremonya mula sa university quadrangle patungo sa Geronima T. Pecson Main Auditorium.

Ayon sa PNU, ito ang kauna-unahang honorary doctorate sa Physical Education and Sports na ipinagkaloob ng unibersidad.
Hindi lamang mga panalo sa boxing ring ang binigyang-diin ng PNU sa pagbibigay ng parangal kay Pacquiao.
Para sa unibersidad, mas malawak ang naging epekto ng kanyang kwento sa sports at sa buhay ng mga Pinoy.
“Yet Pacquiao’s contribution to Philippine sports is bigger than his victories. His greatest legacy lies in what his journey has come to represent: that excellence can emerge from humble beginnings, that circumstances need not dictate one’s destiny, and that sports can become a powerful tool for personal transformation, social mobility, and national pride,” pahayag ng PNU na iniulat ng GMA News.
Binigyang-diin din ng unibersidad na ang kanyang paglalakbay mula sa simpleng pinagmulan hanggang sa pagiging kauna-unahang eight-division world champion sa boxing ay nagsisilbing halimbawa kung paano maaaring gamitin ang sports para magkaroon ng mas malaking pagbabago sa buhay.
Sa kanyang mensahe sa PNU community, sinabi ni Pacquiao na higit pa sa pagkilala sa kanyang mga naging tagumpay ang honorary doctorate na ipinagkaloob sa kanya.
Para sa boxing icon, nagsisilbi itong paalala na patuloy niyang gamitin ang kanyang mga karanasan upang maglingkod at magbigay-inspirasyon, lalo na sa mga kabataan.
Binigyang-halaga rin niya ang papel ng edukasyon sa paghubog sa isang tao at ang kahalagahan ng sports sa pagbuo ng karakter at nation-building.
Hindi rin nawala ang pagiging makulay ng seremonya nang kantahin ng PNU Chorale ang sarili nilang arrangement ng kanta ni Pacquiao na “Para Sa’yo Ang Laban Na ‘To.”
Ipinagkaloob din sa kanya ang music sheet bilang espesyal na token mula sa PNU community.
Kasama ni Manny sa mahalagang araw na ito ang kanyang asawang si Jinkee Pacquiao, na ibinahagi rin sa Instagram ang ilang larawan mula sa seremonya.
Sa caption niya, hindi niya itinago ang kanyang saya at pagmamalaki para sa asawa.
“Doctor in Physical Education & Sports I’m so incredibly proud of you, Manny. To God be all the glory! Thank you Philippine Normal University,” saad ni Jinkee.

Bukod sa pagiging boxing legend, si Pacquiao ay kamakailan ding itinalagang Secretary at Lead Convenor ng National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC).
