Senator Robinhood Padilla may arrive at the Senate Monday, days after he reportedly left with Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, who was under Senate protective custody at that time.
“Ang alam ko. May session eh at ico-convene ang impeachment court. Malamang darating,” lawyer Philip Jurado, chief of staff of Padilla, told reporters.
(As far as I know, he will go to the Senate today because there’s a session and the impeachment court will convene.)
The National Bureau of Investigation earlier tagged Padilla as a “person of interest” in the whereabouts of dela Rosa.
Early Thursday morning last week, Dela Rosa sneaked out of the Senate building reportedly with Padilla.
Dela Rosa, a former chief of the Philippine National Police, served as head of the Davao City Police and later the PNP chief during the period when Rodrigo Duterte was mayor and president of the Philippines, respectively.
Dela Rosa was named by the ICC Prosecutor as one of the alleged co-perpetrators of Duterte in a “common plan” to neutralize criminals nationwide by killing them.
Shortly after the Supreme Court did not issue a temporary restraining order on the ICC warrant against him, Dela Rosa again disappeared. He had resurfaced to vote in the change of Senate leadership on May 11, six months after not attending Senate sessions.
On Friday, an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO) was issued against Dela Rosa, according to Acting Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida. — Sundy Locus/RSJ, GMA News
