The first one is the chipset — the Dimensity 9500 has significant difference over the Dimensity 9400+. Check out the CPU configuration of each one below.
Mediatek Dimensity 9500:
1x 4.21GHz C1-Ultra
3x 3.5 GHz C1-Premium
4x 2.7 GHz C1-Pro
Mediatek Dimensity 9400+:
1x 3.62GHz Cortex-X925
3x 3.3GHz Cortex-X4
4x 2.4GHz Cortex-A720
As you can see, their CPU composition are quite different but on the outset, you will notice the top clock speed of the 17T Pro is 4.21GHz compared tot he 3.6GHz on the 15T Pro. Furthermore, the Mali-G1 Ultra MP12 graphics on the 17T has higher clock speeds (1716 MHz) compared to the the Mali-G925 Immortalis MP12 (1612 MHz) of the 15T Pro.
Expect the Xiaomi 17T Pro to perform better and more efficient over the 15T Pro.
Second, we looked at the camera. At first glance, one would think they are the same for the 17T Pro and the 15T Pro. Both have 50MP main + 50MP 5x telephoto + 12MP ultra‑wide + 32MP selfie, all with Leica optics.
However, the Xiaomi 17T Pro uses a newer Light Fusion 950 main sensor and adds Leica Live Moment/Live Portrait. It also includes more advanced slow‑motion and cinematic video modes (up to 8K and 4K120, 1080p @ 960fps).
Lastly, the biggest improvement here is the battery. the 17T Pro gets a massive 7,000mAh Si-Ca battery with 100W wired HyperCharge, 50W wireless HyperCharge and 22.5W wired reverse charging. That’s a huge jump from the 15T Pro’s 5,500mAh Li-Po battery, 90W HyperCharge and 50W wireless HyperCharge.
Over-all we’d say there are significant improvements on the latest Xiaomi 17T Pro over its predecessor. The question is, will you upgrade? Do chime in the comments section below.
The Xiaomi 17T Pro starts at €899 with select markets getting trials for Google AI Pro, YouTube Premium, and Spotify Premium.
