Myrtle Sarrosa is grieving the loss of her grandmother, Aleli Porlucas, whom she described as one of her earliest supporters and inspirations.
On Facebook, the cosplayer and actress announced the passing of her Lola Aleli and shared a photo of them together alongside a heartfelt tribute.
“She has always been one of my inspirations in pursuing a life filled with dreams. Growing up, she was one of the reasons why I learned how to play the piano, started singing, and why I started performing. My grandparents always loved seeing me on stage, but my Lola had a way of making me feel special long before I ever stepped onto one,” Myrtle wrote.
She recalled how her grandmother made her feel supported even before she pursued show business.
“She never made me feel embarrassed for being different. Instead, she would support me, encourage me, and let me keep chasing the things that made me happy,” she said.
Myrtle also looked back on her grandmother’s quiet acts of love, from attending her practices and recitals to watching her television appearances and keeping newspaper clippings about her achievements.
“As a child, I thought those things were ordinary. Now that I’m older, I realize they never were. That was how she consistently showed her love. Looking back, before the stages, lights, and applause, there was already one person cheering for me from the very beginning,” she said.
Myrtle thanked her grandmother for believing in her long before she knew the path she would take in life.
“Thank you for loving me before I even knew who I would become. I love you so much, Lola. I know that you are with the Lord Jesus now, finally at peace in His loving embrace. Though our hearts are hurting here, I find comfort knowing that you are home with Him, surrounded by His love and grace. I pray that one day we will meet again, and until then, I know you’ll continue watching over us.”
She also apologized to fans after having to shorten her meet-and-greet appearance at the CODM Summer Fest 2026.
“I would also like to apologize to my community if I had to cut my meet and greet short at CODM Summer Fest. Thank you for understanding, and I’ll make it up to everyone in the next events,” she said.
Myrtle starred in the 2024 series “Makiling,” top-billed by Elle Villanueva and Derrick Monasterio.
