Smart Communications is making the first official telco move into the consumer AI wearables category in the Philippines. Starting Friday, May 29, 2026, the mobile services provider will formally offer the brand-new Rokid AI Glasses across its flagship postpaid offerings, introducing native, hands-free access to Google Gemini without the typical bulk of traditional AR headsets.
Rather than treating AI as just another application on your phone screen, the Rokid AI Glasses shift the entire user experience directly to your face. Weighing in at a highly wearable 49 grams, the device looks and feels remarkably like a standard pair of everyday spectacles. Instead of heavy lenses or battery-draining heads-up displays, the glasses rely on an audio-first, voice-driven interface.
Ask questions with AI
The core feature set is built directly around deep Google Gemini integration. Users can trigger natural voice interactions to ask questions, transcribe audio, handle navigation, manage daily scheduling, or execute real-time language translations on the fly—all handled discreetly through an open-ear directional audio system. Interestingly, Rokid’s international software layer has been updated to act as a multi-model hub, meaning users can also toggle between other prominent large language models like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Alibaba’s Qwen depending on their specific workflow needs.
Ready for Creators
For mobile content creators and tech enthusiasts, the frame packs a built-in 12-megapixel camera module capable of capturing authentic, first-person point-of-view (POV) photo and video clips. Combined with integrated private speakers, the hardware acts as an all-in-one standalone mobile logging setup. It even bundles automated speech-to-text transcription tools and a built-in teleprompter mode to assist professionals with real-time presentations while on the move.
The network provider is staggering the retail rollout across two primary data-bundled tiers:
- Smart Postpaid Plans+ 1499: Mainstream subscribers can secure the hardware for a straight payment of ₱28,800. The companion plan balances the wearable with 40GB of open-access data, 12 full months of unlimited 5G connectivity, and unrestricted all-network talk and text parameters.
- Smart Infinity Plans 5000 & 8000: Premium luxury members can pick up the smart eyewear completely free of charge. The high-tier plan packages the glasses with unconditional unlimited data, active international data roaming privileges, priority store services, and 24/7 dedicated assistance via a personal Relationship Manager or a Concierge.
The hardware will officially hit select brick-and-mortar Smart Stores nationwide later this week, where non-subscribers can also purchase the glasses as a standalone retail item.
