Manny Pay maintenances leave users without access to cash

Manny Pay is a BSP-regulated financial application launched by legendary boxer-turned-senator Manny Pacquiao. The application was built with the objective of low-cost, hassle-free transactions for average Filipinos, along with other lofty aspirations. Unfortunately, public sentiment has been somewhat lukewarm recently due to prolonged maintenance issues that left people without access to their hard-earned cash.

Just this month, a system update on the 7th of May was generally accepted by the user base, as a clear 12-4AM window was provided. Another system maintenance was scheduled on the 15th of May from 11AM onwards. This was not as well-received; likely due to the fact that more users are online during this time period, and that there was no “end time” indicated in the post.

Thus, many who were left hanging and waiting for operations to go online again took to the comments section to air their grievances.

The same happened two days ago, with a notice being posted on May 23, a public plea for patience on May 24, and a final announcement declaring the return of services just before midnight today, May 25.

Comments on the succeeding posts have mostly been complaints from users who urgently need their cash for payments, unanswered support tickets, as well as those who are beginning to think of switching to other platforms. Even the “return of services” post is filled with comments of users still unable to access their accounts due to locks.

Users have also taken to other forum sites such as Reddit to seek clarity on the situation.

Despite all of this, the Manny Pay social pages continue to release marketing materials. If you visit the Facebook page, you can leave comments on the marketing posts, but the admins have limited comments on the maintenance updates.

We do hope that Manny Pay fixes its services so that situations like these don’t happen again.
