President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed former Palawan 1st District Rep. Franz Josef George Alvarez as the new acting president and chief executive officer of the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC).

Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro confirmed this to reporters on Wednesday.

Marcos signed Alvarez’s appointment letter on May 13, 2026.

Alvarez will replace Joel Caminade at the helm of the PNOC.

He also previously served as president and CEO of PNOC Exploration Corporation, a subsidiary of PNOC.

The PNOC is the government corporate entity mandated to engage in the exploration, exploitation, and development of traditional, renewable, alternative and all other energy resources, with the primary goal of assuring adequate and stable energy supply to sustain the country’s economic growth. — JMA, GMA News
