The incident happened at the corner of Delpan Street and CM Recto Avenue in Barangay 18 at around 10:30 p.m.
Police said the victim was on her way home from work when the accident occurred.
Initial investigation showed the woman fell from the tricycle and landed in front of an oncoming trailer truck, which then pinned and ran over her left leg, causing severe injuries.
CCTV footage and accounts from barangay officials revealed that a passing motorcycle caused the tricycle to swerve, leading to the incident.
The victim was rushed to the hospital, where doctors were forced to amputate her left leg due to the extent of the damage.
Doctors decided to amputate her leg after determining that the tissues and muscles were too severely damaged to be saved.
The victim is now in stable condition but expressed concern over her future.
The tricycle driver maintained that the incident was accidental, while the trailer truck driver and the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit refused to give a statement.
Authorities said there was no indication that the victim was intoxicated at the time of the incident. Investigation is ongoing to determine liability.
