A 33-year-old man was assaulted and robbed by three men in Tondo, Manila, losing nearly P80,000 in cash and valuables, authorities said.

Michael Ong had just arrived to pick up his parked vehicle along Ersha Street, Barangay 172, on Saturday afternoon when he was suddenly confronted by the suspects.

Without warning, the men declared a hold-up and attacked him, repeatedly punching and beating him while taking his belongings.

Ong said the suspects grabbed his jewelry worth around P65,000 and more than P18,000 in cash.

He managed to break free from his attackers but suffered injuries, including a bloodied face.

Barangay authorities said neither Ong nor the suspects are residents of the area, adding that the victim was only using the place as a temporary parking space.

One of the suspects was later tracked down and arrested at his residence.

However, none of the stolen items were recovered. Police said the suspects are siblings.

Investigators are also looking into the possible involvement of the group in a similar mauling incident in Tondo earlier this year that circulated online.

Ong, for his part, dismissed claims on social media suggesting he knew the suspects or had a prior dispute with them.

The arrested suspect is currently under the custody of the Manila Police District and will face charges of robbery with physical injuries.

Authorities have identified the two remaining suspects and are preparing charges against them.

Police said the investigation is ongoing as they continue efforts to locate the other suspects and gather additional statements.
